About The Poker Dots

A British trio dedicated to the sounds of the '50s, the Poker Dots feature guitarist/vocalist John O'Malley, bassist Zac Zdravkovic, and drummer Spencer Lingwood. The band formed in 2002, when all three members were playing in Good Rockin' Tonight, another U.K. band playing '50s-style rock & roll. O'Malley, Zdravkovic, and Lingwood discovered that they also had fondnesses for Western swing, doo wop, and vocal jazz of that era in common, and decided to pay tribute to those styles by blending them as the Poker Dots. The band recorded their debut album, Cocktail Swing, a collection of '50s pop standards, in Zdravkovic's studio, and P-Vine Japan released it in spring 2004. In addition to their Poker Dots duties, O'Malley continued to play in Good Rockin' Tonight, while Zdravkovic formed the Jive Romeros and Lingwood played drums for Blast Off. ~ Heather Phares
