The Asphodells

About The Asphodells

A collaboration between Andrew Weatherall and Timothy J. Fairplay (formerly of the angular-rock band Battant), the Asphodells make psychedelic dance music inspired by dub, disco, and post-punk. Weatherall and Fairplay met when Battant enlisted the producer to do a remix of their song "Kevin (1989)." Some of their early tracks appeared on Weatherall's 2012 mix album Masterpiece, as well as on Daniel Avery's Fabriclive 66 mix. The duo's full-length debut Ruled by Passion, Destroyed by Lust -- which took its name from the tagline of a gay gladiator film poster from the '70s -- arrived in early 2013 on Weatherall's Rotters Golf Club label. ~ Heather Phares
