About John Dwyer

John Dwyer has been a driving force of the American rock underground for several decades, through the prolific output of his many bands, particularly Thee Oh Sees, as well as his renowned Castle Face label. First known as part of storied noise-rock groups like Pink & Brown and Coachwhips, he formed OCS as a lo-fi solo project, and it eventually evolved into the full-fledged band Thee Oh Sees, who earned a reputation for their intense, sweat-soaked live shows and restless release schedule. Their unmistakable brand of psychedelic garage rock grew to incorporate influences such as Krautrock, prog, and proto-metal, while Dwyer explored Silver Apples-influenced electronic music as Damaged Bug. Dwyer also collaborated with a revolving cast of guest musicians on a series of freely improvised experimental albums, including 2021's Gong Splat.
