Chic Gamine

Harmonious with a killer cool style, Winnipeg- and Montreal-based band Chic Gamine sound like a '60s girl group as imagined by Quentin Tarantino. Formed in 2007, the group was originally known for its unique instrumentation, with four voices plus one drummer delivering most of the music. Chic Gamine's 2008 self-titled album earned them a 2009 Juno Award for Best Roots Album, and in 2010 their sophomore LP, City City, was nominated in the same category. In 2013, Closer rounded up remastered and remixed tracks from their first two albums, while 2014 saw them get in the holiday spirit with Christmas, Vol. 1. With a bigger, broader sound, the band released its third album, Light a Match, in 2015. ~ David Jeffries
