On their hazy, groove-steeped studio debut, 2016’s Familia Mágica, Mexican sibling duo Solagua approach ethereal rock with equal amounts of ebullience and moodiness. Straddling murky atmospherics and punky jangle-pop, the shaggy-haired musicians deliver an eerie dance-rock confection in “Llévame”, and the woozy, crystalline “Tierra Agua Aire Fuego” is lyrically, gorgeously abstract. The chemistry between front-crooner Pepe and shoegaze-tinged beatmaker Pablo Ochoa particularly shines on the nebulous opener, “Volemos”, which sets the tone for their self-assured and beautifully complex futuristic pop.
