About Harve

Enigmatic non-binary London artist Harve reps the LGBTQ community, exploring their queer identity and life experiences through a kind of hazy, ambient electro-R&B. Born and brought up in London, Harve grew up with the classic rock and soul played by their parents, later absorbing a diverse range of influences from Destiny's Child and Bon Iver to Joni Mitchell and Frank Ocean. They began writing songs at the age of 12 after the death of their mother, using her guitar; music-making became a form of catharsis. In 2015 Harve met and teamed up with producer Kwes Darko, spending long nights in the studio crafting a signature sound. They first appeared on the music scene in 2018 with the singles "Caught Up," "reAD," and "City Scapes," which presented a unique, muted, vaporous, slow-motion kind of R&B combining synthesized and organic elements topped with Harve's breathy, high-pitched vocals. The releases accrued a great deal of attention on music blogs. In 2020, Harve released their debut EP, Held by the Moon, which included the singles "Blue for You" and "Streetlight," featuring Fredwave. ~ John D. Buchanan
