Qing Feng Wu’s Diary of a Spaceman: Memories

After a nearly 20-year career, Sodagreen frontman Qing Feng Wu flies solo for the first time on his debut album Spaceman. To mark the departure, Qing Feng joins Apple Music to share four exclusive playlists titled “Diary of a Spaceman.” The third in his series is “Memories.” Qing Feng is fully aware of the subjective and selective nature of memory—and often indulges in the creative freedom it offers. “As I write down my memories, I alter and tamper with them,” Qing Feng tells Apple Music. “Sometimes I beautify you. Sometimes I make you ugly. And in the end, I can’t tell which parts of my memory really happened and which I created.” He often returns to memory for inspiration because of the beautiful distortions it can create. “A song is a memory. But you know, sometimes, memory can be invented.” Songs—or altered records of human experience—eventually become memories for others, Qing Feng explains. But we all latch onto them in different ways. Memories permeate this playlist; some songs on the list hold personal meaning for Qing Feng, while others have their place in the collective pop consciousness. “Do any of these songs hold memories for you? If not, let them become your future memories.”
