About Siddharth Mahadevan

Singer and composer Siddharth Mahadevan leads in emphatic rock and electro-pop anthems for films and offers a refreshing take on India’s devotional music. • The son of veteran singer and composer Shankar Mahadevan, Siddharth trained in Carnatic and Hindustani classical music, but also grew up listening to everything from ghazals to hip-hop and Latin music. • In his teens, Mahadevan appeared on the title track from Bollywood caper Bunty Aur Babli in 2005, singing loud and clear alongside veterans such as Sukhwinder Singh, Jaspinder Narula and his own father. • Before focusing on his singing career, Mahadevan served as composer for Marathi film Swapna Tujhe Ni Majhe in 2012 and was enlisted as a musician for the movie adaptation of Salman Rushdie’s Midnight’s Children in 2013. • His breakthrough as singer came in 2013 with two Bollywood songs—the gritty Hindi rock song “Zinda” from sports biopic Bhaag Milkha Bhaag and the folksy, grandiose track “Malang” alongside Shilpa Rao from action flick Dhoom 3. • Mahadevan often works with his father’s composing trio Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy for film soundtracks, but also takes on Marathi, Tamil and Telugu songs with artists like G. V. Prakash Kumar (“Oru Thuli”) and Anirudh Ravichander (“Ezhu Velaikkara”) at the helm.
