Leaders Of The New School

About Leaders Of The New School

This rowdy four-man crew out of Uniondale, Long Island, won over listeners with their maximum-force flows, animated vocal tones, and cleverly constructed narratives. Charlie Brown, Dinco D, Cut Monitor Milo, and Busta Rhymes first emerged opening for fellow Long Islanders Public Enemy. Their debut, A FUTURE WITHOUT A PAST, a fun-loving conceptual album built on high-school situations, appeared in 1991. The same year, L.O.N.S. famously aided A Tribe Called Quest on the classic posse cut “Scenario.” However, strife within the crew quickly brewed as Busta’s charisma and raw energy overshadowed the others, and L.O.N.S. broke up shortly after their second LP, T.I.M.E., was released in 1993.
