About Catherine McAteer

In the artist’s words: Describe one of your earliest musical memories in detail. Playing my Grandmother's beautiful piano that she was given in the 1940s for her birthday, much to her disappointment as she had really hoped for roller skates. I would sit for hours obsessing over how the black keys sounded together. What are your top 3 all-time favorite albums on Apple Music, and why? Why did you choose these three albums in particular? Destiny's Child, Destiny's Child/Survivor Sigur Rós, Ágætis Byrjun Sigur Rós: the perfect accompaniment to driving through rural N.Ireland in my first car at 17 Destiny's Child: everything a 10 year old girl needed to know about harmony, rhythm & being a bad ass The Knife: synths & drum machines & deliciousness Find a song of yours on Apple Music that you love and tell us what makes it special. Tell us why you chose this song. “Lost & Found” I wrote this as a continuation of 'Nighttime', the first track I ever wrote for new animated series Gig Work. I wanted to end the DJ set with a hint of classical instrumentation and for it to wind down in a really calm, reflective way. What’s one of the most memorable moments in your career so far? Performing at the BBC Proms at 16 - it was magical and it made me realise that even though I'd really only played male composers' work, that I could also become a composer. Is there anything left on your bucket list as an artist or band? Two projects still to come - one electronic/house and one pop/R&B/songwriting-heavy.
