In 1979, in conjunction with the release of An American Prayer and the upcoming Jim Morrison biography No One Here Gets Out Alive, L.A. disc jockey Jim Ladd hosted a four-part program featuring an in-depth look at the legendary Los Angeles rock 'n' roll band The Doors. The radio program was syndicated and sent to stations across the country as "Innerview" and played over the course of four weeks. The original vinyl sets became a collector's item; bootlegs surfaced, but their fidelity was low. In 2001, the remaining band members decided to issue the special for hardcore fans. Sans commercials, the programs run a bit longer than 45 minutes each (and here are split into four mini-parts per segment for easier access). The band's myth and reality are explored, often with a mix of the two. Interviews with the surviving members expand our insight and compound the legend, but all highlights of the group's history are discussed at length. The source is a copy of the vinyl box, so there may be some surface noise.
