Born in Munich, discovered in Sweden and eventually a pop icon in Istanbul, Aynur Aydın has long used music as a tool to transcend cultural barriers. In 1999 she teamed with five fellow Turks to represent Germany at the Eurovision Song Contest in pop group Sürpriz. But as a solo artist, the singer, lyricist and composer layers Anatolian instruments over crystalline pop production crafted at Stockholm’s Cosmos Studios. Whether she’s showcasing gorgeous vocal runs on R&B anthem “Better” or turning up the tempo for break-up bop “Salla”, Aydın’s gift for vivacious melodies unites her sound.
