Korea Honours Black Music

This year, in honour of Black Music Month, we’re exploring the undeniable impact of Black music and musicians around the world. Black music bloomed in Korea in the ’90s by importing heavy influences from the US, and now it remains a large part of the music culture. K-pop, in particular, has become a global phenomenon, as many artists are influenced by Black music in the underground and break out through TV audition programs or are discovered by a label like AOMG, led by Jay Park. This collection showcases the rich and various influences of Black music that are living and breathing through Korea’s finest talents. Dive into our Black Music Month playlist, and if you hear something you like, save it to your library.
