The passion that drives Taiwanese singer-songwriter Kenji Wu shines through in his rough-edged falsetto. Channelling pop, rock and traditional Chinese influences over the course of his career, he puts his crisp tenor to work on ballads and big-arena anthems alike. After debuting in 2000, Wu transitioned into acting, scoring roles in Taiwanese dramas while continuing to write and perform music on the local pub scene. His 2004 comeback showed that he'd honed his experience, immediately catching the attention of critics and fans alike. Our selections highlight the range of an uncommon talent.
