In 2012, Eddy Kim was a top six finalist on South Korea's talent showcase Superstar K4, and released his debut album The Manual two years later. Largely centred around his soothing voice and acoustic guitar, his songs have both a folksy, laid-back lilt as well as a soulful pop sensibility that's at least partly defined by Western artists. The result is an artist whose output incorporates numerous facets of modern K-pop, respecting its heritage while also stretching its boundaries.
