Boyzone Essentials

Inspired by the success of Take That, music mogul Louis Walsh held auditions for an Irish boy band in 1993, ultimately selecting the five members of Boyzone in a quest to colonise the charts. The plan worked, and Boyzone went on to sell 25 million albums worldwide. With a sound inspired as much by the vocal traditionalists of yesteryear as '90s music trends, Boyzone split the difference between Take That's dance-inflected pop and the quiet storm of Luther Vandross. Disbanding in 2000, Boyzone reunited in 2008, and celebrated their 20th anniversary in 2013 with a string of sold-out shows.
