About Das EFX
Introduced by EPMD, the Brooklyn-born duo made up of Scoob (aka Books) and Dre (aka Krazy Drayzy) achieved enormous popularity in the early 1990s due to their unique lyrical style, which married endless pop culture references, nonsensical slanted rhymes, and a kind of hip-hop pig Latin. Their 1992 debut, DEAD SERIOUS, was a sensation that quickly went platinum on the strength of the single, “They Want Efx.” By the time STRAIGHT UP SEWASIDE (1993) was released, the duo's status was already sliding--a trend that would continue with each subsequent release--as their innovations were absorbed by other artists and eventually dismissed as gimmicks.
