EDITORS’ NOTES

Inspired by her clan name, Izikhali ZamaNtungwa is Afrosoul singer and songwriter Zandie Khumalo’s richly imaginative debut album. Co-written and produced by Mojalefa “Mjakes” Thebe—the musical genius behind the likes of Zahara, Mzekezeke and Robbie Malinga—the result is a harmonically and culturally complex, radio-friendly LP that puts her light, mellifluous voice front and centre. Lead single “Nangu Makoti” is an uplifting, romantic delight, while the swaying rhythms of “Nami Ngiyali’funa” entice with earnest warmth.
