Yumi Zouma Essentials

Yumi Zouma's airy electro-pop would defy gravity if it weren't grounded by the slightest case of disco fever. The Kiwi band's 2014 debut EP comes flush with chillwave synths and guitar ("The Brae") and is cushioned in spongy beats and sleepy snaps best reserved for late-night swaying ("Riquelme"). By their EP II, original singer Kim Pflaum was replaced by the equally ethereal Christie Simpson, whose delicate croons softly blow through balmy New Wave climes ("Dodi"). Their 2016 full-length pushes that sunny dream-pop further onto the dance floor with plush, pulsating grooves like "Keep It Close to Me".
