Jesús López-Cobos Essentials

As conductor for the Deutsche Oper Berlin, Orquesta Nacional de España and the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra—where he was conductor emeritus up to his death in 2018—Jesús López-Cobos was known for his colourful repertoire. He shone especially in music from his native Spain, in works like Manuel de Falla's rich La vida breve and Turina's vibrant Canto a Sevilla, sung expressively here by Pilar Lorengar. López-Cobos also provides a solid framework for violinist Itzhak Perlman's lyrically tender take on Max Bruch's high-stepping Scottish Fantasy.
