Inspired by the taut musicianship of Chet Baker and Radiohead, Feu! Chatterton’s chemistry as a group is palpable over the course of their discography, most notably in cuts such as the hazy, slinky “L’oiseau” and the austere “La malinche”. Meanwhile, it is lyrically where the group shines even brighter: inspired by the likes of Alain Bashung, Serge Gainsbourg and of course the poet Thomas Chatterton, the fivesome gather inspiration from mundane daily occurences laced with humor, irreverence and absurdism, such as in the dreamy “Le chat souris”.
