Can: Deep Cuts

Can: Deep Cuts

As Can played on into the ‘70s, their psych rock took on a slicker sense of interplay. Flirting with tango rhythms on tracks like “Come sta, la luna”, disco hi-hats on “Sunday Jam” and dubby Moroccan drums on “Smoke”, the group truly seemed capable of anything. Not that their weirdness was ever buffed out, as hinted by the woolly jazz of “Pinch” or the eccentric, catchy “Turtles Have Short Legs”.
