The Mekanix

A production team sought out by the Bay Area hip-hop elite, Tweed "Tha Great" and Dotrix 4000 are better known as the Mekanix. The duo kicked off their career in 2005 and worked for the likes of J. Stalin, Shady Nate, and Yukmouth. Regular work with Philthy Rich included numerous cuts on the rapper's 2012 album Kill Zone, then in 2015 the crew produced "I'm Trippin'" for legendary MC Too $hort. The group's Under the Hood album followed in 2016 with guest appearances from E-40, Too $hort, Mistah F.A.B., and many more. In 2018, they returned with the LP Restoration, which featured collaborations with J. Stalin, Richie Rich, Lil Blood, and others. The Mekanix issued their next album, Donuts, just a year later, with many of the guests from Restoration returning, as well as collaborations with Clyde Carson and Magnolia Chop. ~ David Jeffries
