She Makes War

About She Makes War

The stage name of English D.I.Y. gloom-pop singer/songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Laura Kidd, London-based She Makes War draws inspiration from artists like Echo & the Bunnymen, the Breeders, My Brightest Diamond, Cat Power, Suede, and Bikini Kill. Kidd's first outing under the moniker, 2010's Disarm, introduced audiences to her beguiling blend of pastoral dream pop and goth-inflected modern rock. The atmospheric and driving Little Battles arrived two years later and in 2015, Kidd wrote and appeared in her own biographical one-woman show, Sh*t Girlfriend, which blended humorous prose with melancholy music. in 2016 she released her third studio long-player, Direction of Travel, which featured guest appearances from Tanya Donelly and Mark Chadwick. ~ James Christopher Monger
