In the artist’s words: Describe one of your earliest musical memories in detail. In 1975 in a Analyze class at Berklee, I heard "Quartet For The End of Time" by Messian and " Night on Bald Mountain" by Mussorgsky. I was blown away by their expression through composition. I knew then I wanted to cross-genre my work as a composer. What are your top 3 all-time favorite albums on Apple Music, and why? Why did you choose these three albums in particular? The Jimi Hendrix Experience, Are You Experienced Deluxe Version Listening to tracks from these albums inspired me to do something different with the compositional process. To not just write based on technique or what is popular in the marketplace but to create an expressive, communicative art through music. Find a song of yours on Apple Music that you love and tell us what makes it special. Tell us why you chose this song. “Bleath” This track is very cathartic to my time as a soldier in Vietnam. You realize the highs and lows associated with combat duty, and I wanted to reflect on this with this piece. Studs Terkel does a very nice opening narrative, also.
