About Finghin Collins

After winning a scholarship at age six, Dublin-born pianist Finghin Collins studied with Royal Irish Academy of Music director John O’Connor. ∙ At age 17, Collins won the RTE Musician of the Future Competition, and five years later he took first place at the prestigious Clara Haskil International Piano Competition. ∙ His double-album Schumann: The Complete Works for Piano, Vol. 1 was voted Gramophone’s Editor’s Choice in 2006. ∙ He is the founding artistic director of the New Ross Piano Festival, and cofounder/artistic director of the International Master Course at Dublin’s National Concert Hall. ∙ In recognition of his achievements, he received an honorary Doctor of Music degree from the National University of Ireland in 2017. ∙ In 2019, he celebrated the 20th anniversary of his career-making Clara Haskil International Piano Competition victory with a 17-date tour of Ireland. ∙ Collins has collaborated with acclaimed chamber music and opera performers, including cellist Han-Na Chang, with whom he toured South Korea and Europe.
