David Liebman

About David Liebman

Reed player David Liebman rose through the jazz ranks in the late 1960s playing with Chick Corea, Dave Holland, and, in the early ‘70s, Elvin Jones. Leibman’s most notable tenure came when he played in Miles Davis’ electric fusion group in 1973 and 1974, appearing on such landmark albums as On the Corner. Liebman’s work on flute, and the alto and soprano saxophones, is versatile and complex, demonstrating equal facility in traditional and avant-garde modes, qualities that have shone on his work with the groups Lookout Farm and Quest, as well as numerous recording dates as a leader. The artist has written several books on jazz education, and continues to record and perform regularly. ~ Anthony Tognazzini
