The Happy Goodmans Essentials
Apple Music
Renowned for their country-inflected no-frills approach to singing and sharing the word, The Happy Goodman family have been an enduringly popular force in Southern gospel for decades. Though the Alabama group was founded in the '40s by Howard "Happy" Goodman, they didn't find fame until after their '63 debut, I'm Too Near Home, and in '68, they won the Best Gospel Album GRAMMY®. Throughout the years, the group's lineup has revolved several times, although members outside the family R.E.M.ain few and far between. The group split in '80 but have reunited several times since.
