The Clark Sisters Essentials

The Clark Sisters Essentials

The Clark Sisters grew up in Detroit churches and honed their vocal skills under the tutelage of their mother, Dr Mattie Moss Clark, a minister of music known for pioneering the use of three-part harmony in gospel. The sisters took her innovative lessons to heart: in the early ’70s, the group started making waves outside their hometown, thanks to contemporary gospel albums taking influence from funk, soul and R&B. Live, the Clark Sisters’ full power comes to life, as intricate arrangements convey the siblings’ deep faith—but are loose enough for the women to freely stretch their vocal range if the Holy Spirit moves them.
