Manu Chao: Influences

Manu Chao: Influences

Manu Chao is rightly lauded for helping bring alt Latin music to the world—but it was the rest of the world that influenced him as a young musician. Deeply funky grooves from the afrobeat legend Fela Kuti, the colourfully eccentric dub of Lee "Scratch" Perry, the pan-African reggae fervour of Bob Marley and the Wailers and the urgent, revolutionary punk of The Clash all preceded Chao's global party.
