Juanes’ Hardwired Playlist

Juanes’ Hardwired Playlist

Juanes’ entry point into Metallica fandom was the band’s third album, 1986’s thrash-metal landmark and breakthrough, when he was growing up in Medellin, Colombia. “Master of Puppets changed my life forever,” he tells Apple Music. “Without a doubt, it’s one of the most important albums for me and one of the most influential in my life. I remember how the city smelled in those days, I remember what I was thinking, I remember my Metallica T-shirts, I remember the photos I had in my room of the whole band. I remember wanting to practise to sound equal or better than them. It was an obsession, and it still is to this day, fortunately.” Juanes made an exclusive playlist for Apple Music that shows off not just his love for Metallica, but contemporaries like Slayer, Testament, Sepultura and Anthrax, as well as forebears like Led Zeppelin and Black Sabbath.
