Bloc Party Essentials

Like a number of their post-Britpop peers in the noughties, Bloc Party rode a wave of press build-up to land a massively successful debut LP. That said, the lasting impact of Kele Okereke and Russell Lissack's band is far from a product of hype. Where 2005's Silent Alarm showed off BP's ability to marry fast, angular riffs with big hooks, 2008's Intimacy proved that they can go beyond the indie rock status quo with a lean towards dance and EDM aesthetics. The band members have also struck out on side projects since, returning to their guitar-centric roots on 2012's Four.
