The sparkling sophisto-pop of Aztec Camera was the brainchild of Roddy Frame, the Scottish singer/songwriter who led the band from their early-'80s inception to their mid-'90s swan song. Though they emerged from Scotland's post-punk scene, there's never been a trace of angularity or aggression in their music. Instead, Frame crafted a warm, flowing feel that started from a folk-rock base but quickly expanded to incorporate jazzy touches, R&B grooves and pure pop melodies. The result is Aztec Camera's distinctly sunny sound.
