Violinski

About Violinski

This UK band, formed in 1979, comprised Mik Kaminksi (violin), Mike De Albuquerque (guitar/vocals), John Hodgson (drums), John Marcangelo (keyboards), Baz Dunnery (guitar/vocals), Paul Mann (vocals/bass) and Andy Brown (vocals/bass). Both Kaminski and De Albuquerque were previously members of the Electric Light Orchestra. Violinski made their debut with a instrumental single, ‘Clog Dance’ which was released in January 1979. This catchy composition received instant attention when BBC Radio 1 used the track as the backing to the Top 40 countdown. This ensured the single a UK Top 20 position. The band was labelled as an instrumental act and when the debut No Cause For Alarm and follow-up single ‘Save Me’ featured vocals, critics were perplexed. Media attention soon dwindled and although they managed a few more unsuccessful singles and a second album, Violinski vanished from the scene.
