About UVB

The pseudonym of French producer and DJ Sébastien Michel, UVB first burst onto the techno scene in 2014 with his debut release -- the pulsing What I've Learned EP -- on Bas Mooy's then-fledgling label Mord. Michel, who grew up in Marseille, started producing music in 2009, finding himself drawn to the murky sounds of industrial, new wave, and EBM. Moving to Berlin in 2012 with his production partner and school friend Jean Redondo, the pair formed the techno duo Daxyl. Taking inspiration from Berlin's dynamic techno scene, the twosome found it difficult to make it work, with Redondo returning to Marseille. Michel continued with new vigor under the alias UVB, producing a hefty amount of work that fell into the hands of Mooy. The What I've Learned EP appeared in early 2014 and was quickly followed by the ten-track release Second Life. The following year, Michel dedicated his time to building his profile, playing DJ sets across Europe, Asia, and South America, and producing full-time. His debut album, Life, also appeared that year -- once again on Mord -- as well as the single "Meteorit," for French label Fracture. Michel launched his own label, Body Theory, in 2016, kickstarting it with his own Dogma EP, as well as dropping two more EPs for the label. The following year saw him return to Mord for the fourth time, with The School of Intolerance EP. Michel returned to his Body Theory label at the beginning of 2018 with the release of Remembering the Heat, and delivered a remix for fellow Berlin resident Ossian on his debut solo EP Necessary Illusions. ~ Rich Wilson
