John Harvey's heavily melodic, relaxed, ambient-stroked releases as Dimension 5 recall Neil Olliveria's productions as Detroit Escalator Co. and Aril Brikha's releases for Transmat just as often as they leave their own distinct impression, updating classic Detroit techno of the late '80s and early '90s for the 21st century. The U.K.-based producer hooked up with Amsterdam's Delsin imprint and released the Control Complex 12" just prior to the full-length Alien Artform in 2002. Following Aardvarck's Find the Cow, Harvey was one of the initial artists to release a full-length on Delsin. Harvey received routine praise for his first LP. ~ Andy Kellman
