Whether you’re hitting the gym or hanging with friends before (and after) Pride parties, Jodie Harsh’s DJ mix is the soundtrack for you. “I always try to convey a really positive mood in the music I play,” the London producer and drag queen tells Apple Music. “Even though I can take the beats to a really slamming place, I think my sets feel very celebratory.” She crafted the mix late on a Saturday night on her laptop, with candles lit to get into the zone and feel the excitement of the Pride celebrations ahead. “My deepest roots are in the queer communities that I’m part of,” she says. “I think music is broad and can be interpreted and enjoyed as the individual wishes, but I just want people to enjoy it, dance to it and have an hour of smiling and feeling sexy and free.” Of course, the mix wouldn’t be complete without a track of her own: the inclusive-minded “My House”, remixed by fellow London artist Dance System. “The messaging behind this song is ‘everybody’s welcome’,” she says. “Even though it’s a fun dance bop, it really is the world I’m striving for, where everyone is invited for a seat at the table and feels accepted.”
