Titãs Essentials

Since forming in 1981, this treasured Paulistano band led by Branco Mello have been in the process of self-exploration and experimentation. The legendary album Cabeça Dinossauro saw them sneer with punk attitude, while later they would flirt with infectious rhythms of reggae, ska and New Wave—at one point even going through a pop phase. But it was with a more mature stadium-rock sound that they rose to massive commercial success. With a vast catalogue and touching social and political issues with sharp lyrics, Titãs remain a touchstone if you're looking to trace the history of Brazilian rock.
