Lara Veronin's time as the lead singer of Nan Quan Mama helped forge the band's reputation for sunny pop-rock tunes and sentimental power ballads, and her musical career has continued to build on that legacy. In her solo work the Russian-Taiwanese-American singer balances upbeat rock and ballads, and takes occasional forays into folk and jazz (similar to her friend and sometimes collaborator, Jay Chou). Her lilting voice gives sweetness to her mid-tempo alt-rock songs and warmth to slower, softer tracks.
