It's rare for a single group to be the face and identity of a musical genre, but then, Banda el Recodo isn't your average band. Formed in 1938 by the legendary Don Cruz Lizárraga (1918-1995), El Recodo made the thundering tuba riffs and syncopated charola beats of banda sinaloense popular in all corners of the world. In 1995, his sons German and Alfonso took over leading the band. With brass-heavy danceable rhythms and radio-ready singles they have managed to stay relevant for more than 80 years.
