The Dø

About The Dø

A French and Finnish duo that takes its name from the first names of its members, the Dø (that is to say, Dan Levy and Olivia B. Merilahtin) were a "multi-genred" pop group influenced by rock (Beatles, Björk, etc.) and jazz (Coltrane, Ella Fitzgerald, etc.). The group formed while making music for the French film Empire of the Wolves in 2005, but made waves with their 2007 album A Mouthful. Within the group context, Dan took up musical duties, while Olivia handled vocals. 2010's Dust It Off EP suggested that the band's second album, 2011's Both Ways Open Jaws, would be an even more hyperactively creative affair, while 2014’s Shake Shook Shaken found them embarking on yet another creative path, this one influenced by electro-clash. ~ Chris True
