About Pride & Glory

This USA power trio was formed in 1991 by Zakk Wylde (b. Jeffrey Phillip Wiedlant, 14 January 1967, Bayonne, New Jersey, USA; guitar/vocals), James Lomenzo (b. 13 January 1959, Brooklyn, New York City, New York, USA; bass/vocals), and Greg D’Angelo (b. 18 December 1963, Brooklyn, New York City, New York, USA; drums), going under the dubious name of Lynyrd Skynhead. D’Angelo was replaced by Brian Tichy (b. 18 August 1968, Denville, New Jersey, USA) in 1994 whereupon the trio changed its name to Pride And Glory. Wylde had risen to fame as Ozzy Osbourne’s guitarist, while Lomenzo had played with the commercially successful heavy metal outfit White Lion. The trio’s self-titled album garnered critical plaudits for its traditional virtues, although it steered closer to the southern boogie of Lynyrd Skynyrd than the doom laden hard rock sound of Black Sabbath. Lomenzo left after the band’s 1994 tour, but Wylde subsequently shelved Pride And Glory to concentrate on other projects. He teamed up with Lomenzo again on his 1996 solo outing, Book Of Shadows. The original line-up re-formed for a one-off show at the Whiskey in Hollywood, California, in January 1998.
