To all zine-writing indie kids of the late 2000s, Meet Uncle Hussain’s “Lagu Untukmu” is a generational anthem—one that seemed to peer directly into their souls. Appearing during the indie renaissance, it elevated the band from DIY champions to mainstream acclaim. While it helped that they wrote the theme to TV show Kami, it’s really former vocalist Azlan’s distinctive, high-pitched vocals—usually more suited to rock kapak—that guaranteed legendary status.
