About Marco Barrientos

Since the ’80s, worship leader Marco Barrientos has released more than 50 contemporary Christian music albums and has been nominated for three Latin Grammy Awards. ∙ Beginning with his sophomore LP, Se Exaltado, he entered a creatively fertile period from 1988 to 2012, when he released at least one album (sometimes as many as four) every year. ∙ In 2005, he was nominated for his first Latin Grammy Award in 2005, as his live LP Viento Mas Fuego was up for Best Christian Album (Spanish Language). ∙ He sang lead on “Tú Mereces,” “Tu Amor no Tiene Fin,” “Por Mí Murió,” and “Cantamos Aleluya” for the Grammy-winning collective Hillsong’s 2012 LP, Global Project Español. ∙ The live concert video for his atmospheric ballad “Preciosa Sangre,” from the 2016 album El Encuentro, has been viewed more than 125 million times. ∙ “Salmo 23”—his hit single collaboration with Un Corazón from their LP Hola, Futuro—was nominated for Spanish Language Recorded Song of the Year at the 2019 Dove Awards. ∙ Barrientos sang the intensely anthemic “Padre Nuestro” on the Billboard-charting 2019 Spanish-language worship album Bethel Music En Español.
