Loaded with raspy vocals that tug ever so lightly on your heartstrings, Becka’s sound is a tightly curated mixture of pop, jazz and soul that brings a playful touch to the Singaporean Mandopop scene. Initially trained as a classical pianist, the petite singer-songwriter found her path when she started dabbling in writing her own original music. Bringing deliciously dynamic vocals and her optimistic perspectives to the table, Becka released her self-titled debut EP in 2016—an upbeat, mostly English record which details the ups and downs of life against clap-happy tracks. This was followed by her Perfectly Fine full-length album, which continued to show off her melismatic chops on both English and Mandarin bops—and illustrating her flair for drawing inspiration from the little things around us. Becka also sang with Mandopop superstar Angela Zhang as a backing vocalist on Zhang’s 2018 tour, proving a versatility and can-do attitude that continues to be reflected on all her bilingual tracks. One of the few artists who refuse to be constrained by language, Becka continues to bring nothing but good vibes and fun grooves to Singapore’s multicultural music scene.
