About Avery Stafford

In the artist’s words: Describe one of your earliest musical memories in detail. My dad introduced me to musical genres from Motown to Neil Sedaka, Bobby "Blue" Bland to Burt Bacharach, Sam Cooke and the Soul Stirrers to Stevie Wonder. I learned to sing and perform music in the church. All my early musical memories start there. What are your top 3 all-time favorite albums on Apple Music, and why? Why did you choose these three albums in particular? Acappella, Better Than Life Jon Gibson, Soulful Hymns Stevie Wonder, Songs in the Key of Life Songs in the Key of Life is the perfect album: exquisite writing, arranging, performance, and production. Better Than Life was the pivotal album that changed my musical trajectory. Soulful Hymns taught me that indie artists are the best in the world! Find a song of yours on Apple Music that you love and tell us what makes it special. Tell us why you chose this song. “Hourglass” Honestly, I think that Hourglass is the best musical composition of my career. It is melodically elegant and marvelously produced. The lyrics capture my desire for every woman, man, and child to live in realized hope. It's top 5 best Avery songs! What’s one of the most memorable moments in your career so far? The ultimate honor is when my songs are sung by others. I always get jazzed when hundreds of people at a church begin singing a song that I wrote (especially when they don't know that I am in the audience). This has happened several times. LOVE IT!! Is there anything left on your bucket list as an artist or band? The list is too long. I will share four items: 1) Chart a song on Billboard, 2) Perform on stage at a nationally known venue, 3) Meet Stevie Wonder and/or Lionel Ritchie, and 4) Full time music career.
