The brainchild of Jack Tatum, Wild Nothing sculpts smooth synth-pop out of romantic '80s daydreams. With a sound that's been gradually evolving since his 2010 debut Gemini, he threads jangly, reverbed guitar through layers of dense synths in dark, pensive colours reminiscent of The Cure. Tatum's lulling vocals swim gracefully through it all, blending in and out of intricate instrumentation. The arrangements have continued to grow more lush and complex, incorporating piano, marimbas, brass and extra backing vocals, while always retaining Tatum's signature flow.
