Scandinavian hip-hop group The Latin Kings used their upbringing in Botkyrka, a tough immigrant neighbourhood of Stockholm, as the inspiration for the lyrical candour and raw energy of their wildly successful debut Välkommen till förorten (Welcome to the Suburbs). Instant success brought two Swedish Grammis wins, before they went on to take their interpretation of the classic East Coast hip-hop sound further, exploring elements of reggae while throwing down throwback samples, driving breakbeats, playful yet powerful lyrics and classic vinyl scratching.
