Tangerine Dream: Next Steps

Edgar Froese and his many bandmates first began tackling free-roaming improv, prog-fuelled Krautrock and pulsing proto-trance in 1967—but they didn't stop there. On "Le Parc", a 1984 single favoured by electro DJs, they pumped out uptempo New Wave, while "Rolling Down Cahuenga" is sleek, pulsing robo-disco. On the score to Grand Theft Auto V, they put atmospheric synths to cinematic use.
