If David Pajo had only ever played with Slint, Tortoise and Stereolab, he'd still be considered one of the most adventurous guitarists to emerge from ‘90s post-rock. But as Papa M, his longest-running solo project, Pajo has continually pushed his dexterous fingerwork and twisted approach to songwriting. He's just as comfortable tackling strummed acoustic ballads ("Who's That Knocking") as he is shredding face-ripping doom-metal riffs ("Bloom"). And on prickly, lo-fi soundscapes like “Roadrunner”, Pajo creates soothing mood pieces from the barest of elements.
